Neal & Leroy Files a Friend-of-the-Court Brief in Support of Chicago Threatened Historic Preservation Ordinance

According to an article in the Urbana News Gazette, the city of Urbana, IL will file a friend-of-the-court brief in support of Chicago's threatened historic preservation ordinance. Urbana council members voted to authorize the Chicago law firm of Neal & Leroy LLC to prepare the brief in support of Chicago's ordinance, which faces a legal challenge. Neal & Leroy will do the work free, on behalf of Urbana, Oak Park and a number of different cities and organizations.

According to Richard F. Friedman, partner with Neal & Leroy, Chicago has indicated it intends to seek Illinois Supreme Court review of the decision.

"We believe the decision, if it's upheld, will have an impact throughout the state and even the country," he said.
