Litigation

Neal & Leroy attorneys are experienced litigators who have completed over 200 jury trials, numerous non-jury trials in state and federal courts, more than 150 appeals in both state and federal jurisdictions, including the United States Supreme Court.  The firm’s complex federal litigation is represented by a skilled team, which has decades of experience in the federal courts.

The firm specializes in commercial litigation, representing clients, as plaintiffs or defendants, in all civil courts. We have broad experience in chancery and injunctive matters, obtaining injunctions for our clients, or defending injunctive matters. In particular, our clients call on us to act on extremely short notice to prosecute or defend temporary restraining orders or preliminary injunctions.

We have defended the University of Illinois in a federal injunction action aimed at stopping or delaying a major redevelopment project. We have also acted on behalf of a major private retailer to permit its project to go ahead when individuals sued asserting environmental claims.

We have represented clients in major contract litigation. For example, we successfully defended a major healthcare insurer against claims by a subcontractor and defended a major international transportation manufacturer against challenges to its right to proceed with a large governmental contract.

We have successfully guided a bank through the regulatory approval process and won its charter after an appeal in the federal courts. We have represented other banks in such diverse matters as fraudulent check litigation and false imprisonment litigation.

Our litigation also involves real estate and land use. For example, we have represented a major condominium developer against challenges to its land title to part of its facility.

The firm’s litigation services are rendered for both public and private clients in all practice areas, including real estate, civil rights defense, contract issues, injunctions and temporary restraining orders, labor and employment, white collar crimes, construction disputes, arbitrations, and condemnations.
